Insight Investment today announces the launch of the Insight UK Equity Income Booster, a new equity income fund that aims to provide an enhanced level of income with potential for capital growth. The Fund invests primarily in UK equity and equity related securities* combined with a systematic call option overwriting programme to boost income and reduce volatility. The UK Equity Income Booster Fund targets an annualised yield of 8%** and is being offered from today through intermediaries to the UK retail market.
The UK Equity Income Booster Fund will be jointly managed by Tim Rees, a specialist in equity income investment, and Richard Lloyd***, an expert in derivative-based investment strategies. This dual fund management approach is expected to differentiate this Fund from its competitors, bringing together the strength of Insight’s equity income fund management and research platform with Insight’s leading derivative capability as one of the largest buy-side participants in the derivatives market.
Gordon Phillips, head of business development, Insight Investment, said: “The equity income sector is gaining popularity as investors take a longer term approach and favour funds which can participate in a potential equity market recovery but with the benefit of high, stable income along the way. With its dual fund management approach, the Insight UK Equity Income Booster is a compelling income solution for investors who are comfortable with equity risk but seek a higher income stream coupled with more defensive characteristics than traditional equity income funds. ”
Richard Lloyd, head of structured solutions, Insight Investment, commented: “The time is right for this type of Fund with interest rates at all-time lows and equity markets offering strong potential for growth . Insight’s UK Equity Income Booster will generate high income by combining a high quality equity portfolio and a systematic derivative overlay supported by our market leading access to the derivatives market.”
